Saturday 31st January 2015 saw the dedication and the 25th Anniversary celebration of St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Ashaley Botwe in Accra.

The liturgical rites were led by Most Rev Gabriel Charles Palmer-Buckle, the Archbishop of Accra in the presence of the Vice-President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Kwasi Amissah-Arthur and his wife Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur.

Recounting the genesis of the church, the Parish Pastoral Council Chairman Mr Andrew Dotsey noted that, the parish begun from the sitting room of a lay faithful and went through a lot of transformations in the past 25 years and now has more than 600 members. Tributes were paid to the founding members of the church as well as the parish priest of the time Fr Frans Mulders from the Dutch District who actually gave the name of his patron saint St Francis of Assisi to the church.

Later on Sunday 1st February, Fr Nimorius Domanzing, SMA, was installed as the first parish priest by the Vicar General of Accra. This brings seven the number of parishes being run by the SMA in Ghana.
