After the opening yesterday under the sign of recollection and prayer, the Plenary Council definitely took off today while keeping the Lord as the wind under its wings. In fact, this morning, as it will be in the days to come, each day begins with a time of Lectio Divina. It should be emphasized that as SMA “our missionary commitment flows from our incorporation into the living Christ” (Constitutions and Laws, 3). The same is true for all activities within the Society.

It is in this spirit that our Fathers in charge have worked on the question of good financial management.

Why talk about money at the beginning of this meeting?

We all know how important finances are in the mission. But beyond the simple matter of manipulating numbers, money represents the sacrifice made by many generations to advance God’s work. Its good management is, above all, the supreme way to give thanks to God, the source of all good, and to all those who, through their work, have made these means available for the mission.
