The Superior General with one of the councilors makes an official visit (Canonical visit) to every Unit once in the mandate. Fr. Fachtna O’Driscoll, the Superior General and Fr. Francis Rozario, a General Councillor visited Polish District in Formation for ten days from November 4 to 13, 2016.

SMA took root in Poland in 1931 and because of the political context of the time, no Polish Unit was created then. As the 1983 General Assembly decided to open new Units in Africa, Argentina and Asia, Poland was re-opened. Today we have 27 Polish priests and three seminarians.

Our Polish missionaries are working in Central African Republic, Tanzania and Togo. SMA Poland has been promoting lay missionary vocation. Quite a few lay people have gone to Africa to live their missionary vocation. Some continue to be in Africa and others have returned to Poland and explore ways of being ambassadors of Christ and of Africa in Poland.
