Sixth day of the Plenary Council
Posted on :

Yesterday evening (Friday, June 3, Day 5), Archbishop Peter Kwasi Sarpong, Archbishop Emeritus of Kumasi, became an honorary member of the Society of African Missions, through the Region of Ghana, during the mass for the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Honour was given to the Archbishop, his achievements and his connection to SMA throughout his life, beginning with his baptism by an SMA priest in 1933. He has been a long-time son, brother, friend and supporter of SMA and its missionaries. The celebration which followed the mass included cultural dances and drumming from all regions of Ghana by a troupe which accompanied Archbishop Sarpong from Kumasi. The Church Council for the Our Lady Queen of Africa chapel, which is a part of the SMA Regional House in Accra, presented the PC2016 participants with hats woven in northern Ghana.
